I think it all depends on giving up on what exactly. βReclaiming the right of being Youβ is the key here. Because sometimes, giving up is the opposite to what you describe. Sometimes, giving up is to stop giving in and reclaim the right to being You.
I suspect that, as often happens in our conversations, we're saying the same thing from different perspectives, Irina.
"Some problems seem insurmountable. Too big for one person, or one idea, to solve. So, we give up. And then we give in. Before you know it, someone else has come along, maybe an βexpertβ or a guru, and half-arsed it."
I am bemoaning the fact that we often give up trying to solve something because the tribe is against it, or doubts our ability to do it.
Hence the NUMMI example. It was not expected to work - most businesses wouldn't have even tried.
The idea of 'giving up giving in' is an interesting one, though :) Thank you, Irina.
βwe're saying the same thing from different perspectivesβ - obviouslyπ. I do agree with all you are saying with one exception: the slogan βdonβt give upβ should be specified as βdonβt give up on yourselfβπ.
THIS: "Simply and quietly claiming your right to be You is the way."
I've never seen it said so succinctly, and it really needs to be tattooed on everyone's foreheads.
Thank you, Angela π

Haha, you should know by now that I thrive where vagueness and ambiguity reside, Irina ; )
But of course! Otherwise, we would have nothing to argue aboutπ. And that would be sadπ.
